What Constitutes Home Fitness Equipment?

Ok, you just bought a three bedroom house and there's one small child - that leaves an extra room. Of course you might want a guest room or a home office, but a designated room for home fitness equipment holds real possibilities.

Fitness

Let's start with the basic question "What constitutes fitness?" Fitness has been described as the state of health and wellbeing where the body is able to function normally in a variety of settings, responding with ease to everyday needs and recovering within reasonable limits to stress and occasional struggle. Exact determinants are variable but address general strength, ease of breathing, stamina and endurance.

Levels Of Fitness

An average human being should be able to go for a walk without getting winded. Likewise, lifting a bag of groceries and carrying them to the car should not challenge those without serious medical limitations. First, we start with an idea or concept - where we are and where we want to be. Before we select home fitness equipment or get down to serious training, we establish our existing level of fitness.

With a little clear thinking we can not only see where we are and identifying some reachable goal, but also design a training plan with which to make our home fitness equipment yield the results we want.

Picking The Room

Let's say we've managed the first few hurdles and are ready for training. Placement of the home fitness equipment is not always so easy. Every location has strong points and potential flaws. My personal favorite home fitness equipment location is in the garage next to the dryer vent outlet - it's the soothing sound of air and proximity to warm, moist air, especially in the summer months. Of course I'm being facetious here.

The idea to consider is placement where the equipment will be used regularly in a comfortable balance setting, without blocking normal household traffic. And if the guest room can still be used by a guest, so much the better. We have a retired paratrooper that comes to visit us a few times a year. He loves the weight room and the home fitness equipment right next to the twin guest bed.

When it comes down to selecting a room for your home fitness equipment, expect that your first placement might not be the last. After two or three moves, you can be sure the permanent placement is getting close, mainly because the desire to not move home fitness equipment again will override any potential benefits.

Now get to work; fitness awaits you!
